Hurricane Relief
Central United Methodist Church is a collection site for UMCOR flood bucket and hygiene kit supplies for hurricane relief. The supplies will be sent to the UMCOR Midwest Mission Distribution Center for assembly. Once assembled, the kits will then be shipped to Texas and Florida to help victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma. UMCOR is also taking donations to assist with disaster relief. Riverside Ice Cream Social and Book Exchange Draws Nearly 100 Students
On August 8th we traveled down the road to Riverside Elementary School to partner with the school for an Ice Cream Social and Book Exchange event. Last year we had about 35 kids. This year we had almost 100!! It was amazing! Children and families had the opportunity to exchange their Riverside summer books, read/listen to a story, make a comic strip, get free books, eat ice cream, play games, get their face painted, run through an inflatable obstacle course…
Special Music Featuring Chris Braue on August 20th
On Sunday, August 20th Central United Methodist Church in Waterford will be featuring special saxophone music by renowned local musician Chris Braue. Chris will be performing a duet with Central’s music director, Sara Hazen. The duo will be performing “Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano,” Mvt. 2 – Paul Creston, Op. 19. CUMC Supporting Project Backpack Again This Year
Once again Central United Methodist Church is collecting school supplies for Project Backpack. School supplies and backpacks will be collected through Friday, August 18th at several drop-off locations throughout the Waterford area. The supplies will then be distributed through the schools to students in need throughout the Waterford School District. Riverside Elementary Book Fair & Ice Cream Social
One of the ways that our congregation is building relationships in the community is through our partnership with Riverside Elementary School.
