FAQs

FAQs

We hope to welcome you to worship soon. Everyone at our church was new at one time or another, so we know what it’s like. To make your visit easier, we have ushers and greeters to welcome you and answer any questions you have.

Where are you located?
We are located at 3882 Highland Road in Waterford. We are just west of Cass Lake Road and east of Pontiac Lake Road on the north side of Highland Road. Click here for a map.

What time is worship?
Central has one service at 10:30 am on Sunday in the Sanctuary or online at live.waterfordcumc.com. For more information on worship, click here.

How long is worship?
Service is about one hour long.

When should I arrive?
If you arrive 5-10 minutes before the service begins, you will have plenty of time to find a seat and get comfortable.

There is a coffee time in the Narthex outside of the Sanctuary from 10:00 – 10:30 am prior to the worship service. You may want to arrive earlier if you would like to join us for coffee and conversation. NOTE THAT DUE TO COVID-19, THE COFFEE HOUR IS SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

If you have young children, you may bring them to worship with you or take them to our staffed nursery. Arriving a few minutes before worship may ease that transition.

Where should I park?
There are plenty of parking spaces available in our parking lot. There are some guest parking spaces in the front of the lot. They are designated by signs, and you are welcome to use them. Enter the church through the south entrance, as it is closest to the Sanctuary. Entrances are clearly marked with signage.

What should I wear?
Please dress as you feel most comfortable. The worship service is casual or business casual.

Where do my kids go?
Children of all ages are welcome to worship with their families. Worship includes a Children’s Time where children are invited to the front of the sanctuary to hear a special message from the pastor, and then are invited to go to Sunday School (K through 5th grade). Infants and toddlers can be dropped off before worship in the nursery.

Parents are asked to check children in before worship begins. Both you and your child will be given a name tag. Please bring the tag(s) with you when you pick up your child(ren) so that we can insure everyone’s safety and security.

Do I need to give any money?
No. You are our guest. Having you here with us is a gift in itself. In fact, many people who regularly worship with us donate to the ministries of our church through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), so the plate or basket may pass many hands without receiving a gift on Sunday morning.

How do I get connected?
Leave your name and contact information on the Connection Card found in your program or the Online Connection Card. If you leave an email address, we will send information weekly about the upcoming Sunday Worship and other events. Explore our website to see many of the ways to serve God and our community with the Central Church family.

If you are a first-time guest with us, stop by the Welcome table outside the Sanctuary for a special gift.

Is the church wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Our sanctuary and Fellowship Hall are both equipped with wheelchair-accessible seating. Accessible parking is located on the south and north sides of the parking lot. There are also automatic doors at both entrances in the front of the building providing easy access to the Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, kitchen, and offices. There are men’s and women’s handicap-accessible restrooms in the building, as well as an elevator between the main and lower level of the building.

Can I participate in communion when I visit?
Yes. The communion table of the United Methodist Church is an open table. You do not have to be a member of the church (or any church) to partake. The invitation to the table is an invitation to a personal and lasting relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Everyone is welcome at the table, including persons of all ages. Communion is typically served on the first Sunday of every month during worship.
