Letting Go of Control
Sunday December 20th, 2020
Fourth Sunday of Advent
Travel Light Message Series – Pastor Jack Mannschreck
We may not look at ourselves as controlling and the fact is the more we try to control, the less able we are to control every element of our lives. The big idea of this message is that we don’t always have the power to control, but we always have the power to surrender. Certainly, control was something that Mary was willing to give up when the Angel Gabriel came to her to let her know she was going to be with child – she was 13-15 years old – and yet her response was “Let it be.” 33 years later, Mary was still willing to give up control as her son, Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, surrendered with the words “Let it be.” What do you have to give up control of in order to surrender to God’s will and a way for your life? You don’t always have the power to control but you always have the power to surrender.
