Forgiven and Forgiving

Forgiven and Forgiving

One of the great hallmarks of the Christian community is forgiveness. Our relationship with God is defined by God’s unconditional love, mercy, and grace. Forgiveness is choosing to let go or release the right to retribution, anger, or bitterness. It is letting go of the right to hold the offense over another’s head. Forgiveness involves not holding another person accountable for your pain. Nuances of The Lord’s Prayer are contained in the words used to describe what is to be forgiven – debts, sins, and/or trespasses.
