In his popular Christmas carol, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” Charles Wesley captures the power of the message of the angels to shepherds outside Bethlehem — the message that the arrival of Jesus signals the reconciliation of heaven and earth. The hymn reflects the proclamation of the Angels proclaiming the good news of “Peace on earth and mercy mild.” The birth of Jesus is a sign of heaven and earth coming together, which brings peace and reconciliation between God and humanity. The question for us today is how do we experience this peace for ourselves? Based on Psalm 29 and Luke 2:1-14.
