The King of Kindness

Christ the King Sunday

This is the final Sunday of the Christian liturgical year. Some traditions call it the Reign of Christ Sunday or Christ the King Sunday. Today marks the culmination of the history of salvation. It is a story that begins in a cradle in Bethlehem, continues to a cross at Golgotha, and now culminates with a crown of heavenly glory. Before we begin a new cycle with the First Sunday of Advent, we pause to proclaim the truth that George Frederick Handel so gloriously revisited in the magnificent “Hallelujah Chorus” of The Messiah: “King of kings, and Lord of lords … forever, and ever! Hallelujah!”
