Thomas has been described as many things, primarily doubting. “Doubting Thomas” is a derogatory term used for anyone who is expressing doubt about the possibilities of any endeavor. I’ve described Thomas as “Honest Thomas” because, in our scripture for today, Thomas is only asking for that which the other disciples had seen. Thomas did carry his skepticism further in saying that he wanted to touch the risen Jesus. Jesus offered a blessing to those who believe but who have not seen; that is us! Doubt is the resistance to our faith and like weights that we exercise with, doubt causes resistance which in turn strengthens our faith.
