No Place Like Home: Pull Up a Chair Message Series
There is no place like home. Home holds memories. Familiar voices. Traditions. Stories. People who know where we have been and something about who we are. But home is not simply a place we return to. Sometimes home is a place from which we are called forward. Joshua and the people of Israel stand at just such a threshold. Moses has died. The wilderness journey is ending. The future is uncertain. They cannot remain where they are, and they cannot go backward.
God calls them to take the next faithful step. God does not give Joshua every detail about what lies ahead. Instead, God gives him a promise: “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
As we begin No Place Like Home: Pull Up a Chair, we celebrate the gift of belonging while remembering that Christian community is never meant simply to preserve what is familiar. God gathers us, grounds us in grace, gives us companions for the journey—and then calls us forward together.
