Changing Our World

Changing Our World with Christ’s Love is one way that we grow and deepen our faith. Below are suggestions for how to grow at each stage in faith growth.


  • Serve with Blessings in a Backpack
  • Serve at the HOPE Shelter
  • Learn about ways you can give of your time, talents, and financial gifts
  • Attend a workshop or seminar about the needs of those in our community and/or world
  • Donate food or money for the Food Pantry or Financial Assistance Program (Good Samaritan Fund) at CUMC


  • All of the above plus…
  • Read the Social Principles of The United Methodist Church 2017-2020
  • Share a story about how serving impacts your life and faith
  • Care for your neighbors
  • Learn about what the UMC says about social issues and how you might respond
  • Participate in UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Sunday
  • Attend Faith Link classes on Sunday mornings


  • All of the above plus…
  • Read Choosing the Good by Dennis P. Hollinger
  • Attend the Keller-Fitz Book Group on Wednesday mornings
  • Learn about the partnership between CUMC and St. Mark’s UMC in Kakata, Liberai and how you can help
  • Tutor or read with chidlren at a local elementary school (with proper permission)
  • Write letters to congress to advocate for social justice issues
  • Serve on a church committee or team


  • All of the above plus…
  • Participate in a “Volunteers in Mission” service/mission trip
  • Take someone with you when you serve in the community
  • Invite a friend to attend a workshop to learn about social justice or compassion issues
  • Serve as a coordinator for a mission project or trip
  • Participate in a community peace/justice group
  • Share your story in worship about how giving generously impacts your life and faith
