Baptism of Jesus Sunday
When have you felt overwhelmed and lost? What did you do? Did you put your head down and rush into the fray that stands between you and what you want to accomplish? Did you roll up into a ball, cocooning yourself away from the world? Did you give up hope? Did you pray? The baptism of Jesus reminds us that when the water is deep and violent, not only is God with us, but we are God’s beloved children. When Jesus was baptized, a voice from the heavens said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17). Can we embrace that message for ourselves? Based on Psalm 29 and Matthew 3:13-17.
