Jesus had proven himself to be a mighty Rabbi, preacher, and healer. The fruit of his mission and ministry had begun to gain great recognition. Still, there were those who opposed him, looking for excuses not to consider carefully Jesus’ teachings. After all, Jesus was just a small-time Rabbi from a little respected town in northern Galilee – in other words, “the sticks” or “backwoods.” We might shake our heads at the disbelief of those who lived during Jesus’ time on earth but what about us? What’s our excuse for not paying attention to Jesus?
