Dear Friends in Christ,
I’ve been in ministry for forty years and wow, have I learned a lot over those decades! One enduring lesson I’ve learned is the necessity of staying connected with our God, who I believe wants to bless churches beyond our imagination. Our response to God’s leading involves searching God’s will and vision for the church, aligning our ministry with that will, and implementing ministries that will reflect that will in our being the body of Christ in the world. That’s why our theme for this year’s Generosity Campaign in October is Living God’s Vision.
October 27 will be our Generosity Celebration Sunday, where you will be invited to share your financial commitment to supporting our 2025 ministry at Waterford Central United Methodist Church! You will be invited to bring your Generosity Card to the front of our Sanctuary and place it in a basket. Then, together we will ask a blessing on those estimates and begin to plan our ministry for next year.
All four messages in October will be about living out God’s vision for Central. Our messages and scriptures are:
- October 6, 2024 – Living God’s Vision – Small Steps towards Big Change based on Luke 17:5-10
- October 13, 2024 – Living God’s Vision – Your Calling based on I Corinthians 15:1-11and Isaiah 6:1-8
- October 20, 2024 – Living God’s Vision – Your Team based on Luke 9:28-43 and I Corinthians 12:12-31a
- October 27, 2024 – Living God’s Vision – Your Impact based on Joshua 24:1-3a, 14-25 and Matthew 25:1-13
This year we’ve worked toward God’s vision of a church that is loving, welcoming, diverse and inclusive, and I truly believe that God has blessed our intentions and efforts. I also believe that God will continue to bless us as we focus on Living God’s Vision in 2025.
A Generosity Card is enclosed with this letter. I’m asking that you prayerfully consider an annual financial commitment to Central Church in 2025. Please fill out the Generosity Card and share it at our worship service on October 27 or, if you’re not available on that special Sunday, mail it or drop it off in the church office. You can also make a pledge online.
