Throughout the year Central offers several events to help you grow in faith and friendships. These events are designed to bring the church together with the community and many volunteer opportunities exist. Most are free (or low-cost) and open to the public. Blessing of the Pets
This event is held on or around October 3rd when Christians honor St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. All friendly pets and their people are welcome to this fun event which features fellowship, pet-related activities, and a special blessing for the animals.
Trunk or Treat
The biggest and best in Waterford! Central’s Trunk or Treat features food, activities, fun, and candy, candy, candy! Trunk or Treat is held near the end of October and draws hundreds of folks from the Waterford area. Volunteer opportunities exist and it’s one of our many fun events that brings the church and community together.
Church Rummage Sale
Held in the Fall, this event is popular with the community. Donations are accepted the week before the sale and the sale runs Thursday through Saturday, typically in late September or early October. Volunteer opportunities exist and it’s one of our many fun events that brings the church and community together. Proceeds from the rummage sale go to support local partner ministries.
SPRING FOR IT Craft Show
In spring Central sponsors a juried craft show that features a wide range of artisans and vendors who sell their works. The church provides the space, reviews and selects vendors, and makes lunch available for purchase. Many volunteer opportunities exist. This is a fundraiser for the church.
Rally Day
As fall approaches, school starts up, and folks return to regular Sunday worship, Central holds its Rally Day Celebration. This event happens after worship, typically in mid-September. Worship is followed by a cookout and potluck, and there are family activities and games that range from a corn hole tournament to a slip-n-slide.
Carols & Beer
Each December the musicians of Central Church venture out to the Rustic Leaf Brewing Company for festive carol singing (and perhaps a pint or two). Everyone is welcome to this fun evening of fellowship and singing. If you don’t sing, just come for the fun.
Summer Movie Night
In August Central hosts a movie night on the expansive lawn of the church’s park-like property. A family-friendly movie is shown at dusk and the movie is followed by a bonfire and s’mores.
Vacation Bible School
Typically held in late June, Vacation Bible School (VBS) is an opportunity for kids in the community to come together for five mornings of fun and learning about Jesus and God Parents can drop kids off and know they are in a safe and welcoming environment that is filled with activities, learning, and making new friends.
Advent by Candlelight Women’s Tea
This event happens around Christmas and is an opportunity for the women of the church to get together before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. The women gather for a brief worship service followed by a tea. Tables are hosted by individuals who decorate the table and invite friends and family. There are also community tables for those who wish to attend but do not want to host a table.
